Eurocopter's Tiger is an attack helicopter, designated EC-665 in Germany and PAH-2 in France.
In 1984, the French and German governments decided to cooperate in the production of a new multi-purpose combat helicopter. It was launched that year, with French Aerospace Mattera holding 70% of its shares and German Daimler-Benz Aerospace holding 30%. Eurocopter, a joint stock company. But later in 1986, the project was dismantled because of the high cost. However, the project was restarted in 1987 for some reason. By 1989, the "Tiger" received an order from the military to manufacture five test machines, three of which were armed with a cannon pod in the nose and two without a cannon. The former is an anti-tank EC-665 developed for the Luftwaffe, and the latter is a battlefield support type developed for the French Army.
