PRODUCT DETAILS
Motorcycles first appeared within the Gendarmerie in the 1930s. The first BMWs were motorcycles recovered after the defeat of Germany. Two decades would pass before the Bavarian brand once again joined the ranks of the Gendarmerie. In early 1963, a regional training and advanced training centre for Gendarmerie motorcyclists was created in Antibes. The sessions took place over three weeks, but this centre was short-lived, as the Centre National de Formation Motocycliste de la Gendarmerie (CNFPMG) was created in Les Mureaux the same year. In 1964, the CNFPMG was transferred to Châtellerault, and then to Fontainebleau in 1967.
The BMW R60/5 entered into service in the early 1970s. In 1976, the Gendarmerie received its first streamlined motorcycle: the R-60/7.
